About Covington County Jail

Covington County Jail should not be confused with the historic courthouse-square jail described in National Register material. The active inmate facility is the Hillcrest Drive county jail in Andalusia. The historic courthouse and jail district is part of local history, but it is not the current public jail entrance or inmate-contact point. Visitors, families, attorneys, and records requesters should use the active jail address and phone number published by the county.

Religious services are part of the jail's published service information, with female inmate services on Sundays and Wednesday nights and male inmate services on Thursdays. The county also publishes an important family-message rule: the jail does not deliver messages about hospital stays or the death of loved ones.
